Richard Alley will speak to campus on April 22. Dinner and refreshments for this event will be served on biodegradable paper products. Dr. Alley will be speaking at 7:00 p.m. in Morgan Auditorium on the topic, "Get Rich and Save the World: Global Warming, Peak (Whale) Oil, and Our Future." This program is free and open to the public. Dr. Alley will also be a guest lecturer in several science classes prior to the public presentation.
A Green Competition was held in the 4 buildings of the Nittany Apartment complex during the month of March regarding energy conservation. March 2007 kw usage and costs were distributed to all residents. Switch plate covers installed in each apartment. Building Winner of competition will receive dinner dance in Hidden Stream Cafe. Winner will be announced by Richard Alley during Earth Day Event.
On Thursday, April 24, an additional event community event will be held on campus: STEWARDSHIP: WHAT GREAT TRADITIONS SAY ABOUT CARING FOR THE PLANET. A philosophical discussion featuring leading regional representatives of major religious and philosophical perspectives will discuss how their traditions deal with the themes of stewardhsip, sustainability and nurturing the earth.
"An Inconvenient Truth" will also be shown several times throughout the week.
